Family Background of Pankaj Tripathi:
Pankaj Tripathi was born on September 29, 1976, in Belsand village, Gopalganj District, Bihar. His father, Pandit Benaras Tripathi, is a priest and farmer. His mother, Hemwanti Devi, is a homemaker.
He has an elder brother and two younger sisters. He is the youngest among the four of them.
He did his schooling at DPH School. He used to be a good athlete in his school time. Pankaj had an actor inside him from his childhood, as he used to participate in ‘Acts’ or ‘Naataks’ during the “Chhath” festival.
His father always wanted him to be a Doctor, the reason he shifted to Patna after his schooling. And, he became a Science student there.
Meanwhile, he joined RSS and also became the leader of ABVP, a student organization.
Once, he got imprisoned due to a protest he was leading which eventually made him spend some days behind bars. Then, there he started reading Hindi literature and got completely immersed in it.
Later, after getting out of Jail, he saw a play named ‘Andha Kuaan,’ which inspired him to join the acting field. So, he started understanding the basics of a Play and later also began performing in various plays.

After doing a lot of theatre in Patna, Pankaj decided to move to NSD. So, he tried for NSD but didn’t get selected in his first attempt. He also failed the second attempt, so his uncle asked him to get in the FCI to earn some good money in foreign.
He attempted for the FCI and got selected for it. Then he joined a Hotel in Patna as a trainee also learned some dishes there. He didn’t get the chance to go foreign for good money, but he did try for NSD one more time in 2001.
Meanwhile, he married Mridula Tripathi and qualified for NSD at the same time.

In 2004, after completing his training from NSD, he moved to Patna again and did some theatre for some months. Later, Pankaj shifted to Mumbai along with his wife in search of work in the acting field.
According to Pankaj Tripathi, during his struggling days, his wife, Mridula, helped him financially by teaching in a school in Goregaon.

Pankaj Tripathi Movies:
In 2004, Pankaj Tripathi made his debut in Bollywood from a guest role in an action-comedy-romance movie Run. Abhishek Bachchan and Bhoomika Chawala led the movie, but the audience applauded Vijay Raaz’s role.
Pankaj was the one who asked Vijay (as Ganesh) in the movie to dive into the ‘Chhoti Ganga’.
Later, in 2005, he appeared in Prakash Jha’s directed movie Apaharan. He worked with actors like Ajay Devgan and Bipasha Basu in the film.

On June 22, 2012, Gangs of Wasseypur-part 1 was released. It was written, directed, and produced by Anurag Kashyap.
There was a character of ‘Sultan Qureshi’ in the movie, played by Tripathi. Sultan Qureshi, one who cuts sixty buffaloes in a day, is a henchman of Ramadheer Singh, and his only purpose is – to kill Sardar Khan (Manoj Bajpayee) and his children.
One of his popular dialogues is – “Yeh Wasseypur hai, yahaan Kabootar bhi ek pankh se udta hai aur doosre se apna izzat bachaata hai.” Translated as “This is Wasseypur, here even the pigeon flies with one wing and protects its honor with the other.”Sultan Qureshi
Pankaj also appeared in the second part of the Gangs of Wasseypur. And, from then only he came into ‘limelight,’ and his talent gets recognized by the film industry and the public.
In 2020, Pankaj appeared in Angrezi Medium, starring Radhika Madan and Irrfan Khan. The same year, he was seen in movies like Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Ludo, and Shakeela.
The following year, in 2021, he starred in Kaagaz, a Zee5 film. Then, he appeared in Netflix’s Mimi. He later featured in some exciting roles in several movies, including 83 (starring Ranveer Singh), Bunty Aur Babli 2, Bachchan Pandey (2022), and Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga (2022).
